월성원전 1호기 수명연장 반대 집회 잇따라 |

경주의 월성원전 인근 주민들과 환경단체 등이 월성 1호기의 수명연장 반대 운동에 적극 나서고 있다.
경주환경운동연합은 양북면 반핵 비상대책위원회, 삼척ㆍ울진ㆍ영광지역 반핵단체 대표들과 함께 오는 19일 월성원자력환경관리센터 앞에서 월성 1호기 폐쇄와 방폐장 공사 중단을 촉구하는 집회를 연다고 18일 밝혔다.
이들은 "일본 후쿠시마 10기의 원전 중 나이가 많은 4호기만 폭발했는데 이는 노후한 원전이 같은 충격에도 더 약하다는 것을 보여주는 것인 만큼 월성 1호기도 폐쇄해야 한다"며 "경주 방폐장도 부실한 암반과 지하수 유입으로 공사 기간이 두배 이상 늘었을 뿐 아니라 완공하더라도 방사선 물질 유출이 우려된다"고 주장하고 있다.
양남면 주민들로 구성된 '월성 1호기 수명연장 반대추진위원회'도 오는 19일 교육과학기술부와 지식경제부, 한수원을 잇따라 방문해 월성 1호기 수명연장 계획 철회를 요구할 계획이고 오는 25일에는 수명연장 반대 집회를 한다.
또 경주시의회 국책사업 및 원전특별위원회는 한국농업경영인 경주시연합회와 협의해 방폐장 내 방폐물 반입금지와 월성 1호기 수명연장 중지 가처분 신청을 내는 방안을 검토 중이고 다음 달에는 원전 지역 주민 등과 함께 월성 1호기 수명연장 반대 집회를 개최할 예정이다.
설계수명 30년으로 내년 11월 수명이 끝나는 월성 1호기는 핵심설비인 압력관 교체를 위해 2009년 4월부터 가동이 정지됐으며 오는 6월께 다시 가동할 예정이다.
월성 1호기의 10년 계속 운전 여부는 안전성 평가를 거쳐 내년 하반기에 결정될 전망이다.
경주에 건설 중인 방폐장은 연약 암반으로 공기가 2년 6개월 연장되면서 그동안 안전성 논란에 휩싸였으며 내년 말 준공을 목표로 공사가 진행 중이다.
