㈜금복주 계열사인 경주법주㈜는 자사에서 만든 전통주 '화랑'이 최근 열린 미국 '샌프란시스코국제와인대회(SIWC)'에서 라이스와인 부문 금메달을 수상했다고 7월5일 밝혔다.

이 회사에 따르면 '화랑'은 라이스와인, 스파클링와인, 와인, 식전주 등 부문별로 3천900여종의 술이 출품된 이번 와인대회에서 국내 전통주 중 처음으로 라이스와인 최우수상을 받았다.

올해로 30주년을 맞은 샌프란시스코국제와인대회는 미국에서 가장 큰 규모이며, 세계적 권위의 주류품평회로 꼽힌다.

회사 측은 "금메달을 받은 '화랑'은 최고급 찹쌀과 전통 누룩만을 사용해 150일간 빚은 프리미엄 순미주로 담백하고 부드러운 맛과 풍부한 향이 특징"이라고 밝혔다.
